Fit and sizing affects comfort, as well as wear life or durability of a garment.
However, sizing is often overlooked as an important issue. The sizing systems used
by hosiery manufacturers for domestic and international markets vary widely in size
ranges and grid chart designs. Most often these are very different from the recommended
standards. In that context, the purpose of this study is to examine the various sizing
systems and underlying anthropometric data, as well as the fit testing methods used today.
Chapters include:
Sizing issues; Analysis of anthropometric data; Development of sizing systems; Hosiery
sizing; Testing for fit; Future expectations
